# Renegade Morris > A crazy quilt of frolicking dancers ## Posts - [Hello world!](https://uc.sappydeals.com/hello-world/): Welcome to WordPress. This is your first post. Edit or delete it, then start writing! - [Bryn Mawr May Day](https://uc.sappydeals.com/bryn-mawr-may-day/): We’re sorry that the class of 2020 (and those with red, dark blue, green, and purple lanterns) will not have the opportunity to celebrate Bryn Mawr’s May Day this year. It is a lovely event binding the community together—and therefore bigger than just one day. Our video playlist includes past performances of Evolution and Balance the Straw in rain and shine. It’s not the same as dancing in front of (or under) Pem Arch, but it’s a reminder of tradition. Anassa kata! - [May Day](https://uc.sappydeals.com/may-day/): This year’s May Day activities are curtailed due to the pandemic. We’ll miss gathering at Belmont Plateau with friends, dancing up the sun, and circling the maypole. If you want to take a peek at the joyful jingling of May Days past, check out our playlist of 2011 and 2019 performances on Belmont Plateau. Dances include Abram Circle, Cuckoo’s Nest, Q-Bridge, and Steamfitters (in 2019 and 2011, when the set included three generations of dancers). Thanks to the Kingsessing Morris Men for the loan of their Fool. - [May Day under lockdown](https://uc.sappydeals.com/may-day-under-lockdown/): On May 1st, the Renegades will be socially distant (except in those cases of co-habitating Renegades) but virtually together. At 10:00 AM (Philadelphia time) we’ll meet via Zoom to say hello, eat brownies, and dance. The musicians have been performing individual parts, which have been combined by Lawrence Miller and posted on YouTube. For your dancing ease, many videos include calling by Scott Higgs. If you want more information about this impromptu celebration, please contact us. - [Post the first](https://uc.sappydeals.com/post-the-first/): Welcome to the soon-to-be-new-home of Renegade Morris! A pandemic puts something of a damper on our spring plans. But we’ll flesh out this page about the past, find a way to caper while socially distancing in the present, and hope for a brighter future. ## Pages - [Repertoire-2025](https://uc.sappydeals.com/repertoire-2025/): Stick Dances Balance the Straw Balance the Straw is a stick dance with standard Fieldtown figures. Encyclopaedia Brittanica has articles on Morris dance and Cecil Sharp, a musician who collected and preserved folk music and dance during the early twentieth century. Wikipedia’s article on Morris dance provides a good overview on the form’s history and styles. The Morris Ring is an invaluable resource from across the pond. Of particular interest are the articles “Morris Dancing From the Cotswolds” and “Field Town,” as the Renegades dance in this tradition. Lengthier articles can be found in The Morris Ring’s journal, The Morris… - [Home](https://uc.sappydeals.com/): Renegade Morris transforms a random collection of interesting characters into a crazy quilt of frolicking dancers. Our dancing can be “rough around the edges,” but it is consistently high energy and full of spontaneous fun. (See our sample videos on YouTube. Contact us anytime to join in the fun!) Since 2007, the side has performed in venues all around Philadelphia, including historical organizations, library fairs, private parties, dance festivals, and May Day celebrations. We’d love to hear from you. - [About](https://uc.sappydeals.com/about/): Renegade Morris was founded in the spring of 2007 as a mixed side dancing in the Fieldtown tradition of Cotswold Morris. The Renegades perform on May 1st, dancing up the sun at the Belmont… [comment]: # (Generated by Hostinger Tools Plugin)
